Paint & Coating Removal
Controlled Coating Removal for Suitable Metal, Marine and Restoration Surfaces
Old paint and coatings can prevent inspection, trap corrosion and complicate repair work. Laser cleaning can selectively remove many coatings without using blasting media or liquid stripper, but coating chemistry and thickness strongly affect production rate and outcome.
TYPICAL PROJECTS
-
Painted steel components
-
Automotive restoration parts
-
Marine hardware and selected hull/coating projects
-
Machinery and fabricated assemblies
-
Localized coating removal before welding or repair
-
Overspray removal from compatible substrates
-
Restoration projects where edge control matters

WHY TESTING IS IMPORTANT
Polyurethane, epoxy, powder coat, antifouling paint, multilayer systems and unknown legacy coatings can behave very differently. Some char, some ablate cleanly and some require multiple passes. Substrate heat sensitivity must also be considered.
PROCESS
-
Identify substrate and coating if possible.
-
Review coating thickness and number of layers.
-
Test a small area.
-
Confirm desired endpoint - bare metal, partial removal, localized repair zone or coating-prep condition.
-
Clean and inspect.
For the fastest evaluation, send a photo of the coated surface, a photo of any peeling edge showing layer thickness, the base material and the area to be stripped.
